"Brasso Seco provides a window to some of the most pristine and diverse locales in Trinidad's Northern Range. Kelly and Carl are excellent stewards of these mountains -- they generously share their intimate knowledge of the streams and forests with those who are interested. Experiencing the tropics with Kelly and Carl is one of the most unique and treasured natural history experiences one could find anywhere!"

"Brasso Seco is the perfect place for those willing to take the path less trodden to explore the beauty of the natural world.  The hikes Carl led us on were unforgettable!  There's nothing like hiking through the rainforest to swim at a gorgeous waterfall and not seeing another soul.  He's an incredibly knowledgeable guide.  Gorgeous forest, fantastic wildlife, and incredibly welcoming people!"

"My son, aged 11, had a life-changing experience hiking in the Brasso Seco rainforest. What a fabulous opportunity for a very active and rebellious boy. I am looking forward to sending him camping in the forest with Carl Fitzjames again next month, and this time, my younger son will be there as well. I look forward to hearing about their adventures!"

"I spent a few years (2007 - 2010) doing my graduate research in Trinidad. Let's just say I was lucky in chosing research sites around Brasso Seco.  Brasso is a beautiful village on the edge of large preserves of uninhabited forest. During my time in Brasso Seco, I had some delicious traditional foods. From smoked chicken to wild pig, curries, and salt fish dinners, fresh hot sauces, as well as homemade pumpkin and guinness icecream and pumkin smoothies, I couldnt have been more satisfied.  There were many options for accomodation in Brasso Seco. I stayed in a room with a great family and kids who befriended me, fed me, helped me around, and even let me vacation with them at the beach. I was also able to find helpers for my research, and never hurt for a ride back into the city or to the airport. Perhaps the best part about Brasso Seco was its location. At the edge of Caribbean civilization, Brasso sits in the heart of the Northern Range of mountianous jungle. A days hike thru this wilderness leads to secluded beaches on the Northern Coast. Wild monkeys, agouti, deer, and several species of beautiful birds and snakes are present on the islands. I even saw sea turtles swim in and lay eggs one season, and baby sea turtles hatching the next! Trinidad is a beautiful place with beautiful people, foods, and scenery. Stop into Brasso Seco, where the people will treat you like family and feed you like royalty!"

"Never was there a more peaceful place than Brasso Seco! Some of my fondest memories of Trinidad are from Brasso- the spectacular forests with cool, clear streams, and stunning vistas, the quiet town and of course the wonderful people. I'd go back there in a heartbeat if I could!"
